Kevin Conroy, Voice of Batman, Dead at 66

Kevin Conroy, who voiced Batman in many shows over the years, has died. He was 66 years old.

Conroy’s death was announced by Diane Pershing, the voice of the DC character Poison Ivy, and confirmed by broadcaster Gary Miereanu, who said the actor died on Thursday (November 10) after a “short battle with cancer.”

“Very sad news: our beloved voice of Batman, Kevin Conroy, passed away yesterday. He has been ill for a while but has actually put in a lot of time at cons, to the delight of all his fans. “He will be missed not only by the players of this series but by his legions of fans around the world,” Pershing said on Facebook today.

Pershing included several photos of Conroy from years past in his post, where he wrote, “Below are pictures of Kevin and Loren Lester playing Robin, one with me and Tara Strong in the later episodes of the Batman cartoons. And finally, one of Kevin and me in front of the big audience we used to get when we did it.” our panels. RIP, friend. 😢”

In an obituary shared with Decider from Miereanu, Conroy’s costars remembered the player for his talent and kindness. Mark Hamill, who played the Joker alongside Conroy’s Batman, said of the late actor, “Kevin was perfect.”

“He was one of my favorite people in the world, and I loved him like a brother. He really is
“he cared about the people around him – his dignity showed in everything he did,” Hamill said. Every time I saw him or talked to him, my spirits lifted.

Hamill called Conroy “the quintessential Batman,” describing him as “the right guy for the right part,” before adding, “He’ll always be my Batman.”

Conroy began his Batman career in 1992 Batman: The Animated Series, where he voiced the titular superhero for three years. He reprized his role as Batman in 1993 Batman: Mask of the Phantasmand went on to voice the character in several video games and, TV movies and series throughout the ’90s.

His last Batman case is listed on IMDb as an upcoming TV series Batman: Caped Crusader, who is currently filming. Conroy was set to play Thomas Wayne in the show, which is set to premiere in 2023.
