Migos: Takeoff’s last Instagram story before his fatal shooting

Takeoff, who was a member of the rap trio Migos, was shot and killed in Houston, Texas on Tuesday (November 1).

The rapper – full name Kirshnik Khari Ball – was 28 years old.

Police were called at around 2.34am local time (7.34am GMT) to reports of a shooting outside 810 Billiards and Bowling Alley in downtown Houston, where a private party of about 40 people was taking place.

Takeoff and his Migos bandmate Quavo were both in attendance. Quavo – whose real name is Quavious Keyate Marshall – was unscathed in the altercation. The third member of Migos, Offset, was absent.

An argument ensued, after a game of dice, and shots were fired. Depart was pronounced dead at the scene.

His death has been mourned by industry figures and fans alike, with tributes to the late rapper pouring in on social media.

Celebrities including James Corden, Drake, SZA, Outkast, and Khloé Kardashian shared posts commemorating the rapper.

So far, no suspects have been arrested and Houston Police Chief Troy Finner is calling on witnesses to “step forward” with information about the shooting.

The police, as well as the rapper’s fans, urged others to remove videos of the incident from the Internet.


Metro Boomin pays tribute to Takeoff

Metro Boomin, who produced Migos’ “Bad and Boujee”, expressed his grief over Takeoff’s death on Twitter.

“I can’t even describe how bright and truly soul-warming he was,” reads part of his heartfelt thanks.

Offset and Quavo have yet to release a full statement following Takeoff’s death.

However, Offset paid a subtle tribute to his late Migos bandmate by changing the profile photos on his social media profiles to pictures of Takeoff.

An autopsy reveals that Takeoff was shot more than once

Departing was shot multiple times, the coroner’s report confirmed.

The Harris County Medical Examiner confirmed the cause of death as “self-inflicted gunshot wounds” and ruled his death a “homicide”.

Nicki Minaj has become the latest rapper to pay tribute to Takeoff after her death.

A new mural honoring Takeoff has been painted in Atlanta

A basement in Atlanta, Georgia is now home to the Takeoff mural.

Takeoff was a native of Lawrenceville, a suburb of Atlanta, along with fellow Migos boy Offset.

The mural is located under the John Lewis Freedom Parkway Bridge near Fourth Ward Park.

The Los Angeles Lakers basketball team honors Takeoff

The Los Angeles Lakers basketball team is one of the latest to honor Takeoff.

In preparation for last night’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans, it was “all Migos music for the Lakers warm up tonight in honor of Takeoff,” said Lakers reporter Mike Trudell.

The Lakers were the team of former basketball player Kobe Bryant, who tragically died in a helicopter crash in January 2020, along with his daughter Gianna and seven others.
