The Francis Apartments – The building was built in 1926 by an unknown architect for Benjamin Humphreys Holder (1866-1947). According to Richard Hansley, the painting is considered “one of the most iconic and iconic works” in Montford’s historic district.

I grew up in the Francis House in Bronzeville, the first project designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. What can you tell us about the building and its place in Wright’s career?
When interviewer Gwendolyn grew up in the Francis House at 43rd Street and Forrestville Avenue in what used to be Bronzeville, she had no idea it was built by one of the world’s most famous architects. And it’s easy to see why.
It did not resemble the geometry of Wright’s famous Prairie Style or his other famous buildings, such as Unity Temple in Oak Park or Fallingwater in Pennsylvania.
